This study is a cooperative effort sponsored by the Village of Little Chute and Advance Little Chute, Inc. It was conducted to better understand market conditions and consumers in the Little Chute trade area. Market data was collected and analyzed to develop recommendations for downtown and commercial district economic revitalization efforts. The research presented in this report is intended to assist existing businesses, prospective entrepreneurs, governmental officials, realtors, property owners, developers, educators, business counselors, and others in the community.

First Impressions program
The First Impressions Program is designed to help a community learn about existing strengths and weaknesses as seen through the eyes of the first time visitor. All too often people and organizations say - and may honestly believe - that they want to improve. But they go about it the wrong way. Too much self-evaluation and too little outside evaluation may mask real problems and opportunities. First Impressions offers a way of determining what visitors think of a community. Volunteers from two somewhat similar communities (size, location, county seat, etc.) agree to do unannounced exchange visits and then report on their findings. Participants became "secret shoppers" for the day to discover what they can about their sister city. In June 2009, Little Chute and Onalaska participated in the First Impressions Program.
